Tabanan – Politeknik Internasional Bali (PIB) Graduation 2021 Ceremony was held at the Khatulistiwa Auditorium Building on Friday, November 19, 2021, which was attended by students of the Diploma 3 Culinary Arts and Diploma 4 Hotel Management Study Program. The graduation procession was led directly by the Chairperson of the Politeknik Internasional Bali Senate, Dr (c). Ir. Deddy Kurniawan Halim, M.M., Ph.D, and was attended by the Director of the Politeknik Internasional Bali, Prof. Dr. Ir. Anastasia Sulistyawati, MS, MM, M.Mis., D.Th., Ph.D., D.Ag., Head of the Diploma 3 Culinary Arts Program, Billy Tanius, S.ST.Par., M.Par., Head of the Diploma 4 Hotel Management Program, Victor Bangun Mulia, B.Sc., MBA, and Head of the Diploma 4 Event Management Program, Dwi Novita Cahyaningtyas Permatasari, SIP, MA, MBA, CEE., CEM., CEP.
The best graduate from the Diploma Three Culinary Arts Study Program was achieved by Cathlin Theresa Tania with a GPA of 3.83 and the best graduate from the Diploma Four Study Program in Hospitality Management was achieved by Georgia Franita Puspitasari with a GPA of 3.91.
As a tourism campus in Indonesia, PIB is committed in producing excellent graduates who have an entrepreneurial spirit. This is realized through the Business Incubator Program to encourage and direct students in starting and running a business. Students also have the opportunity to develop their business through a Business Pitching event that brings in potential investors who are relevant to the tourism industry. Thus, PIB graduates are expected to be able to build their own businesses and create new jobs.
PIB also requires all students to take a series of certifications before registering for graduation. Students from the Diploma 3 Culinary Arts Study Program are required to take the Competency Certification of Food Processing and Bread and Cake Making. Meanwhile, students from the Diploma 4 Hotel Management Study Program follow the Front Office and Bartender Competency Certification. In addition, they are also required to take the TOEIC (The Test of English for International Communication) test.
In her speech, Prof. Sulistyawati expressed her appreciation for the determination and enthusiasm of the graduates in completing their education in the midst of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Prof. Sulistyawati expressed her hope that PIB graduates would remain strong individuals in the face of the increasingly fast pace of development of technology and information. This is because only people who are able to adapt to changes are the true entrepreneurs. Speech by Prof. Sulistyawati closed with a quote from Eleanor Roosevelt, “The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”
Chairman of the Bali International Training and Development Center (BITDeC) Foundation, Dr (c). Paulus Herry Arianto, M.A., CBC, in the same event explained the international pathway program that’s implemented through collaboration with several large institutions such as Curtin University Australia, Taylor University Malaysia, Osaka University of Tourism, City of Glasgow College, and many more.
Furthermore, the foundation is also committed to providing scholarships to prospective students who are passionate in continuing their study, especially those from all regencies/cities in Bali. This is to improve Bali to be the superior Human Resources (HR) and to host regional tourism. He also conveyed his pride to Prof. Sulistyawati, who is still struggling to advance the world of education. At the end of his speech, Mr. Paulus said, “Spend your failures in your youth. Don’t be afraid of failure, but be afraid of never trying and starting.”
In the PIB Second Graduation event, the Head of LLDIKTI Region VIII, Prof. Dr. I Nengah Dasi Astawa, M.Si was also present to give many messages to graduates and graduates. “Remove lazy words from our lives if we want to be successful people,” said Prof. Tie in his speech. He also added, to become a successful person, one should avoid thinking too complicated and have the courage to start. (STV)
