What’s brewing at PIB College? ☕🍰
Today, students from the Culinary Arts and Hotel Management programs got a golden opportunity to join a class that’s not just elegant—it’s packed with hands-on learning: High Tea Class!
This ain’t your usual lecture. Nope—this is a full-on real-world experience, where students step right into a hospitality setting, explore the process, practice the details, and feel what it’s like to deliver five-star service with style.
So, What Is High Tea Anyway?
For those who aren’t familiar—high tea isn’t just a cute, Instagrammable afternoon snack fest. In the international world of hospitality and fine dining, high tea is a classy tradition that brings together the art of serving premium tea with a selection of sweet and savory treats—think sandwiches, pastries, and mini desserts—all beautifully plated and professionally presented.
It’s not just about sipping and snacking. It’s about creating a refined dining experience, with every detail carefully thought through—from table setting and plating to guest service etiquette.
And no, the tea isn’t just Lipton tossed into a cup. Students learned to identify different types of tea, their aromas, flavor profiles, and the proper techniques to serve them according to industry standards. Because whether you’re headed to a cruise ship, a luxury hotel, or launching your own F&B brand—knowing how to serve tea like a pro matters.
Oh, and fun fact: While high tea now screams royalty and elegance, it actually started as a working-class tradition in 19th-century England. Workers needed something hearty between lunch and dinner, and they ate it at tall dinner tables—hence the term “high” tea. Talk about a glow-up! 👑🫖
Culinary Meets Hospitality: When Two Programs Collab Like a Boss
One of the coolest parts of this class? The cross-program teamwork was chef’s kiss. 👨🍳🤝🧑💼
Culinary Arts students took charge in the kitchen, whipping up a variety of finger foods, pastries, and desserts to pair with the tea. From choosing ingredients to baking techniques and precision plating—everything was done with finesse and flair.
Meanwhile, Hotel Management students owned the guest-facing experience. They set the tables, managed the flow of service, and presented each type of tea with professional-level poise — like true hospitality stars. Every gesture, every word, every bit of timing was trained to perfection. It was basically a five-star tea service, minus the actual guests (but hey, maybe someday soon?).
This wasn’t just a class—it was a simulation of real industry standards. A practice run for the real world. And trust us, it felt like the real deal. 💼✨
Why It Matters: Tiny Details, Big Impact
In the world of tourism and hospitality, it’s the little things that leave a lasting impression. The way you pour the tea, your smile when greeting a guest, how the food looks on the plate—these things aren’t just extras, they’re essentials.
That’s why PIB College keeps delivering practice-based learning experiences like this. So you’re not just book-smart, but industry-ready. Equipped with the skills, confidence, and mindset to compete and thrive.
Because here at PIB, we believe: Real experience builds real confidence.
