In the hospitality industry, mixology is not just about combining drink ingredients but also an art of crafting memorable experiences. Recognizing the importance of this skill, PIB College successfully hosted the Mixology Reinvented Workshop today, a program specifically designed to broaden students’ knowledge and skills. Organized by the Hotel Management program in collaboration with Orang Tua, one of Indonesia’s leading alcohol brands, the workshop invited participants to learn the fundamentals of mixology, explore various ingredients and tools, and create beverages that captivate both taste and aesthetics.

Hands-On Mixology Experience: From Theory to Practice

This workshop offered more than just theoretical insights—it provided a comprehensive hands-on learning experience. Students delved deep into mixology methods, exploring its history, philosophy, and the essential role of drink-making artistry in the hospitality industry. Experienced mixology practitioners served as instructors, sharing knowledge about unique ingredients, including premium liquors from Orang Tua such as red wine, white rum, and exotic-flavored liqueurs.

In addition, students were introduced to professional mixology tools like cocktail shakers, muddlers, jiggers, and techniques for using strainers to create high-quality drinks. One of the most exciting moments was when participants learned flair bartending—a captivating skill involving bottle tossing and catching, adding an entertaining twist to mixology.

Exploring Career Opportunities in Hospitality

This workshop served as a valuable bridge for students to gain a closer look at the hospitality world, particularly in the field of mixology. Learning directly from experts and working with high-quality ingredients like Orang Tua products provided an invaluable experience. Moreover, participants gained a clear picture of how mixology skills can be a critical asset for building a career in five-star hotels or even starting their own businesses.

“We hope this workshop not only imparts knowledge but also inspires students to explore their potential in the hospitality field. We believe that innovation stems from learning experiences like this,” said Victor Bangun Mulia, Head of the Hotel Management Program at PIB College.

Through this workshop, PIB College once again demonstrated its commitment to advancing Indonesia’s tourism and hospitality sectors. Partnering with Orang Tua, PIB College goes beyond providing theoretical education by offering the best practical experiences to students. With professional instructors, high-quality ingredients, and excellent facilities, students are prepared to tackle real-world challenges in the workplace.
