Press Release: Tourismpreneurship Project “PIB Competition” Politeknik Internasional Bali Students

Politeknik Internasional Bali (PIB) is a tourism-based campus that provides 3 (three) study programs, including D3 Culinary Arts, D4 Hotel Management, and D4 Management of Conventions and Events. In order to introduce the those programs, students of batch PIB held a series of competitions held on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at the PIB Campus.

The series of events held is part of the Tourismpreneurship Project, which is one of the curriculum used by Politeknik Internasional Bali to encourage students to take part in live-business and seek profit. The events are open to high school and vocational students throughout Bali and the public. The six best works were then crowned the Best Winner (I, II, III,) and Runner Up (I, II III). The winners then receive a trophy, certificate, and coaching money. This competition was also supported by the Indonesian Chef Association (ICA) Bali Chapter, Stand Up Comedy Community Bali, and the Bali Photography Association.

The big theme of this event was “Awaken the Spirit of Tourism in Bali” which was divided into 3 branches and was attended by 65 participants. The first branch of the competition was Stand Up Comedy themed “Let’s Laugh Smartly” which aims to form a sharper and broader mindset and provide positive entertainment. The judges from this competition were Abdullah (Chair of Stand Up Indo Bali) and Putu Oka Mahendrabrata (PIB Lecturer).

The second branch was fruit carving with the theme “Enchantment of the Underwater Nature” which aims to advance tourism in Bali through the formation of regeneration from an early age as well as channeling the interests and talents of young people in the art world, especially in fruit carving. The judges from this competition are Chef Adiguna Tumpuan (Head of D3 Culinary Arts PIB), Chef Putu Camakila (Chef of Hotel Camakila), and Chef Hendra Mahena (Chair of ICA Bali Chapter).

The third branch of the race held was Photography with the theme “The Exotic of Bali” which aims to show and introduce tourism in Bali that has not received much publicity through works in the form of photos. Judges from this competition are Dewandra Djelantik and Kadek Puja Astawa, SE.

The implementation of a series of competitions as mentioned above is expected to be a place to interact and socialize in a healthy spirit of competition and in the effort to develop talent and self-potential, especially in the hospitality industry. In addition, this event is also expected to be an inspiration as well as a foster motivation among students in order to be able to explore and improve their creativity.
