Politeknik Internasional Utilize E-learning in the Learning Process

This current era requires higher education to combine technology in the learning process and to improve the quality of education as well as the lecturers’ competence in order to be able to compete in international level.

Politeknik Internasional Bali (PIB) as a vocational educational institution assuring quality, characters, and trustworthiness started to implement online learning that is so-called E-learning which will facilitate distance learning and improve the quality of learning process.

Located at PIB Campus, in the area of Nyanyi Beach, Tabanan, for 2 days the lecturers, admin staff and IT staff of PIB were trained to make a learning management system for each course. This E-learning training was guided by Prof. Ir. R. Eko Indrajit, MBA, MA, MSc. and Muhammad Fauzi, M.Pd.

Prof. Eko Indrajit said that the Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education (Kemenristekdikti) soon will release a regulation about E-learning in which all universities in Indonesia have to implement e-learning in at least 50% of the courses.

“This is one of the disruptions of education and PIB becomes one of the universities in Indonesia who dared to implement the online learning process. Even though PIB is located in Bali, but all lecturers and staffs of PIB are highly motivated and even their motivation is higher than other universities, especially universities in Java,” Prof. Eko said.

All the participants were shown their enthusiasm in attending and joining this E-learning training which develops their pride as parts of PIB who commits to utilizing technology in future education to anticipate the industrial revolution 4.0 and preparing for the Indonesian Gold Generation 2024.

The Director of PIB, Prof. Dr.Ir. A. Sulistyawati, M.S., M.M., M.Mis., D.Th., Ph.D., D.Ag. said that the implementation E-learning in PIB shows PIB’s commitment in PIB core values that are GIVER (Genuine Impactful Visionary Excellent Respect).

“We commit to becoming an international standard tourism education institution that develops excellent human resources with leadership and entrepreneurship skills, and the implementation of E-learning is one of its kinds,” Prof. Suli explained.

In addition, Prof. Suli said that the implementation of E-learning should be supported by the improvement of the quality of lecturers. Their students are millennial generation.

“Their students are the millennial generation who were born and grown up in the digital era. Then the lecturers have to improve their competence and make innovation in teaching methods including utilizing E-learning in the learning process,” Prof. Suli concluded.
