29 May PIB student take advantage of leisure time to become a tour guide
Politeknik Internasional Bali (PIB) carrying out the tourismpreneurship program, even though it is only 2 years old has focused to develop its students to become tourismpreneur. The lectures were not being a matter for the students to spare for additional activities. Various activities have been done by students to spend their days off, such as being freelancers in event organizer, starting a culinary business, dan being a tour guide.
I Gede Karsa or Karsa is a student of Hotel Management Study Program registered in 2018 have pursued tour guide profession durring his college and it supports his college life. Karsa who is from Bukit Kangin, Songan, Kintamani, Bangli said that he has been a tour guide since he was in junior high school.
” I started being a tour guide in 2014 when I was in junior high school. At that time, I joined P3GB an organization of Mount Batur tracking guide as a junior tour guide” Karsa explained.
Furthermore, Karsa told that His current job is not for his study, even in 1 semester he could get 8 -10 foreigners and it was enough to earn additional income. “I can do this in my spare time, in college holiday. Besides it can help me to improve my English since the tourists coming to Mount Batur are commonly from America, Australia, Germany, Russia, and Japan,” he said.
The Director of PIB, Prof. Dr.Ir. Sulistyawati, M.Sc., M.M., M.Mis., Ph.D., D.Th., D.Ag said that education in PIB focuses more on the profiles in order to become professionals in the tourism industry and entrepreneurship.
“The vision of PIB is becoming a university assuring quality, character, and trustworthiness with one of its missions is gaining obtain superior achievements that have an entrepreneurial spirit,” said Prof. Suli.
